Suprasorb X + PHMB is an antimicrobial wound dressing that acts against a broad spectrum of germs, such as MRSA and VRE*. In vitro studies have demonstrated the very rapid and almost complete release of polyhexanide (PHMB) from the dressing after 24 hours.
Features and benefits
- Antimicrobial effect against a broad spectrum of infectious agents.
- Rapid release of polyhexanide.
- It provides a humid environment, which favors the healing process.
- The humid medium, due to its cooling effect, provides the patient with a pleasant sensation and pain relief.
- The material used in Suprasorb X + PHMB allows it to adapt to any type or depth of wound, making it particularly suitable for intricate parts of the body.
Indications
Hydrobalane antimicrobial dressings can be used on wounds at risk of infection or infected if they are:
- Superficial and deep wounds.

Application mode
1- Preparation for the Wound:
Clean the wound meticulously, the skin around it should be clean and dry. Carefully dry the area around the wound with sterile gauze.
2- Apply the dressing:
- The size of the bandage depends on the surface of the wound.
- Place Suprasorb® X + PHMB on the wound and mold it. When using the wick (filler), fold it several times and insert it loosely into the wound.
3- Depending on the level of exudate, secure with an appropriate dressing.
Action mode
1- Excess wound exudate is adsorbed on the dressing.
2- The dressing provides moisture within the wound with low levels of exudate.
3- Microbes are eliminated with the release of polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB).
Dressing change
- Change the dressing as directed by the responsible healthcare professional, or when moisture seeps through the secondary dressing, but no later than 5 to 7 days.
- Remove the fixation and eliminate any gel residue present in the wound, irrigating with saline solution.
